2022 Recap

#igivearod 2022 donations were open for just over 3 weeks with the #uglydogs and friends once again providing exceptional demonstrations of caring and generosity, especially considering all the mushers who needed help prior to the start of the 2022 Iditarod due to accidents and injuries.

You funded 43 DonorsChoose projects to the tune of $25,000 for 27 schools for books, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) kits, birdhouses, hygiene supplies, gloves, and magnifying glasses and daypacks for an exciting fieldtrip to the tidepools!

As if that wasn’t enough, #igivearod once again highlighted a variety of local Alaskan charities and projects. Donations were made to 27 other Alaskan groups to support a variety of important needs, including rural veterinary outreach, Alaska Native organizations and nonprofits, LGBTQIA+ organizations, search and rescue dogs, sled dog rescue, providing cross country skiing opportunities for Alaska villages, and many others.

This year’s grand total of $35,000 raised for students through Donors Choose and Alaskan charities brings the grand total raised over the last four years to more than $315,000. WOW! That is a LOT of generosity! Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who also participated in nonmonetary ways by knitting hats for Skiku students, retweeting igivearod posts, and for ways you volunteered in your communities!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make 2022 a little brighter and for making a positive impact in so many people’s lives.
